Modularize your model with module tags

Add a new tag to a resource

Add a tag that does not already exist to a resource using the Tags text box.

  1. Open an existing model.

  2. Click the vertical ellipses and select Properties.

  3. Repeat steps 2 and 3 to create and assign additional new tags.

  4. Click Save.

Note

When tagging several resources at the same time, it is faster to create a folder and place the resources in it. You can then assign the tags to the folder. All resources in that folder automatically inherit the folder's tags. The tags may only be edited on the folder's properties screen.

Add an existing tag to a resource

You can add a tag that already exists to a resource.

Note

If several resources are to be tagged the same, it is faster to create a folder and place the resources in it. You can then assign the tags to the folder. All resources in the folder automatically inherit the folder's tags. The tags may only be edited on the folder's properties screen.

  1. Open an existing model.

  2. Click the vertical ellipses and select Properties.

  3. In the Tags text-box, specify the tag name you want to assign using any of the following methods:

    • Begin typing the tag name directly into the text-box. You can either type the full name and press ENTER, or select the tag from the list of matching tags that dynamically appears.

    • Click + on the right side of the text-box to display a list of existing tags to add to the resource.

    • Place your cursor in the text-box, and use the DOWN and ENTER keys to open a list of existing tags to select.

      Note

If a previously-defined tag does not appear in the list, there are three possible reasons:

      • The resource in which the tag was created has not been saved.

      • The resource in which the tag was created is outside the tag scope boundary of the current resource.

      • The current resource is displayed in a tab that was already open when the new tag was created in another resource. The list of previously-defined tags is not updated until the current tab is closed and reopened.

  4. Select the tag you want to assign from the list, or press ENTER when you have completed typing its name.

  5. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until you have added all required tags.

    Note

The Auto-complete tags under this resource check box, which appears when viewing a folder's properties, will normally not be relevant for general use of modules and should be left unchecked. It is only useful if you are creating a solution.

  6. Click Save.

Delete a tag from all resources in a specific path

Delete all instances of a tag from a location in Resource Explorer (within a specific path) using the Delete option.

  1. Open an existing model.

  2. Click the vertical ellipses and select Properties.

  3. Right-click the tag you want to remove and select Delete.

  4. From the Within path drop-down, specify the location (path). This may be either a folder or a model. If any child resource of this location uses the tag, it will be removed.

    Note

The default path is the current tag scope boundary. Folders at various levels above and below the default are offered as options.

  5. Click Delete From All.
