Configuring the web browser

For Data Hub to work correctly, it may be necessary to configure the web browser used on your computer.

Data hub is compatible with multiple web browsers however we will only provide instructions for Microsoft Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Firefox here as they are the most commonly used.

Update trusted sites list

To access the Data Hub website, its URL must be added to the Local Intranet zone or added to the Trusted Sites list.

Perform one of the following actions to do this:

  • Use an Active Directory group policy.

  • Update the Internet Explorer properties.

Updating security properties

You can update the Internet Explorer properties to properly display Data Hub by altering the browser's security settings.

  1. In Internet Explorer, select Tools > Internet Options, and click the Security tab.

  2. Highlight the Local Intranet zone, and click Sites.

  3. Click Advanced.

  4. Add the URL of the Data Hub application to the list of sites.

  5. Click Add > Close > OK.

Enabling cookies

Data Hub requires that cookies are enabled for the Data Hub website. In this section, Internet Explorer is configured to enable cookies.

  1. Click on Tools > Internet Options and select the Privacy tab.

  2. Click Sites.

  3. Add the URL of the Data Hub application to the list of sites.

  4. Click Allow> OK.

Updating authentication settings for active directory

You must ensure that the browser user's Active Directory credentials can be sent to the Data Hub application to be authenticated by a domain controller.

For example, if you are using Internet Explorer, you must have the Enable Integrated Windows Authentication setting enabled in Tools> Internet Options > Advanced tab.

Updating proxy settings

Some proxy servers can prevent Data Hub from functioning, so it may be necessary to ensure that the proxy isn't used for local addresses. For example, in Internet Explorer:

  1. Click on Tools > Internet Options and select the Connections tab.

  2. Click LAN Settings.

  3. Select the Bypass proxy server for local addresses check box.
