Map configuration

Firewall configuration for map charts

Data Hub uses third-party websites to retrieve mapping information. In order for map charts to function correctly, computers in your network must have access to these websites. This may require you to configure your firewall to allow the appropriate outbound connections.

If your firewall is configured so that all computers in your network have unrestricted outbound access to the web using HTTP and HTTPS, all map chart features, including map tiles (backgrounds) and geocoding, will be available.

Some data modeling solutions, such as those for CRM and AX, may require access to specific websites and protocols.

Configuring map settings

Data Hub uses an external online map provider, Mapbox, to provide mapping data for use with map charts. A series of Mapbox maps, which govern the look of map charts created from them, are installed in Data Hub by default. The ZAP API key for Mapbox is also provided to allow access to the installed maps.

You may wish to use custom Mapbox maps for your map charts in Data Hub. To do this, you need to create your own Mapbox account and create custom maps. You can then use the Map tab to make these maps available to format Data Hub map charts.

Connecting to your own Mapbox account

  1. Click Settings > Application Settings > Map.

  2. Replace the default API key with the API key for your Mapbox account, available from the Mapbox website http://www.mapbox.com).

    Note

If you change the API key, the default maps will no longer work. You may wish to keep a record of the default key in case you wish to revert to using the default maps.

  3. Click + Add.

  4. In the Map ID column, type the map ID for the map you wish to add.

  5. Type a name for the map in the Name column.

  6. Click Save.
