Import and export analytics

Importing and exporting analytics gives Data Hub users the ability to create a set of reports and package them so that they are reusable across multiple models and environments. Resources can easily be migrated and backed up using these functions.

Any number of resources can be exported as a .zap file, which can then be imported at a later time into the same or another Data Hub instance.

Import analytics

  1. Navigate to the destination folder for importing resources.
  2. Right-click on the folder and choose Import.
  3. Select the Analytics package to import.
  4. After importing is complete, an Import wizard is displayed. Step 1 allows mapping to a new connection.
tip

The import wizard provides 4 steps for assisting the import process. After the connection is set on step 1, the wizard can be closed and the remaining steps (shown below) can always be completed later through the resource explorer right-click menu.

  1. Change connection.
  2. Map missing resources.
  3. Map missing members.
  4. Validate.

Export analytics

  1. In the Resource Explorer, navigate to the Folder or analytics that you want to export.
  2. Select the Folders or Analytics to be exported, right-click and choose Export.
  3. On the Export Resources prompt, click DOWNLOAD.
note

A list of supporting resources will display on the prompt dialog box if the resources you are exporting depends on other resources.

  • Including supporting resources - This includes supporting resources and calculations in the export from the model that you are exporting from.
  • Not including supporting resources: (Recommended) - This means you have to map the supporting resources and calculations from your new model. This method is recommended as it will enable the analytics to reference calculations and supporting resources from the model (not from a previous model where the analytics were imported from).

Download analytics

  1. From the Resource Explorer navigate to the resource you want to download.
  2. Open the resource and click the Resource Options menu in the top right corner of the resource.
  3. Under the Download section, click on the filetype you wish to download PDF, CSV, or Excel.
important

If the resource you would like to download exceeds the maximum cell limit on your instance of Data Hub, the download will be unsuccessful. The total cells are calculated by multiplying the number of rows by the number of columns in the resource. To avoid this issue you can add filters or slicers to reduce the total number of cells in the resource.

tip

If you are downloading a resource to load into Excel, you can use Zap Live for filtering and slicing.
