How to
📄️ Change connection for an analytic
Changing the connection of an analytic allows you to apply one set of analytics to any compatible cubes. Changing the connection can be done via the right-click menu on the Resource Explorer or by following the steps of the import wizard.
📄️ Configure a Power BI App
Overview
📄️ Connect Power BI to Data Hub
Data Hub warehouse connection details.
📄️ Create a calculated member
A Calculated Member is a reusable formula whose value is calculated using other member values, mathematical calculations, and logical operations. The member is dynamically calculated at the time of use.
📄️ Create a dashboard
1. Click New Resource > Dashboard.
📄️ Create a named set
Named sets are user-defined groups of members or measures from the Dimension Tree that can be reused in multiple analyses and other resources. This is useful when certain groups of members are needed that don't already exist in the cube.
📄️ Create a publication rule
Publication rules allow the distribution of Data Hub resources when a given event occurs. For example, publications can be sent via email or direct delivery into Data Hub folders to a specified group of salespeople containing PDF copies of various dashboards relevant to them.
📄️ Create a report pack
Report Packs enable you to create a printable, reusable collection of resources. These useful for preparing reports that are sent out regularly.
📄️ Create an analysis chart
Chart types display data in different ways. The type of chart used depends on the type of data being viewed.
📄️ Create an analysis table
1. Click New resource > Analysis Table.
📄️ Filter an analytic
Filters provide report designers with the ability to filter an analysis during the design process to only display partial data sets. Consumers cannot change this setting.
📄️ Import and export analytics
Importing and exporting analytics gives Data Hub users the ability to create a set of reports and package them so that they are reusable across multiple models and environments. Resources can easily be migrated and backed up using these functions.
📄️ Resolve missing or absent analytic dependencies
Missing analytic dependencies may result when analytics that were imported at some point, do not contain all the necessary supporting resources. Analytic dependencies may be reports used by a dashboard, but can also be calculated members and other dependencies.
📄️ Slice an analytic
Adding Slicers to an analysis provides the ability to filter report data. This action is dynamic and can be changed multiple times to view different slices of the data.
📄️ Use analytic functions
Use simple analytic functions
📄️ Use sparklines in a title or rich text resource
Effective use of the Sparkline function is to embed it in a calculated member. The calculated member can then be embedded into a rich text object with text and other, numerically calculated members, creating an elegant KPI that can be added to a dashboard.
